MAY MADNESS RETURNS TO DOWNTOWN MAY 6TH
The longest running car parade in Northern California. Hundreds vehicles of all types, including classic cars, hot rods and customs line the streets of downtown San Rafael. The event culminates with the Parade down Fourth Street. This family oriented event provides a great time for participants and audience alike. May Madness invites Exhibitors of automotive products and services, car memorabilia, and car-themed fashion and merchandise to participate this year.

VETERAN VACUUM DOCTOR ENDING HIS PRACTICE

After several years talking of retirement, Paul Newton is calling it quits. His longtime vacuum sales and service shop, now known as P&L Vacuum, has been a fixture at 909 D St. since 1952. Newton, 71, plans to shutter the business at the end of the month. 

 

COMIC BOOKS HAVE BEEN SAN RAFAEL MAN'S PASSION FOR DECADES
 

Sam Shiffler has been selling comics, collectible figurines and game cards to comic book aficionados in Marin for more than two decades. The San Rafael resident opened Blue Moon Comics on Fourth Street in downtown San Rafael 16 years ago — Marin’s last-standing comic book shop.


SAN RAFAEL METER PROGRAM COLLECTS $1,100 FOR HOMELESS
 
The pink meters dotting the streets of downtown San Rafael have garnered $1,100 in spare change for Marin’s homeless. Ten meters were installed in San Rafael’s downtown corridor in September, in a collaboration between the city, the Business Improvement District and the Downtown Streets Team — a program that gets the homeless off the street and back to work.
