The Metta Yoga Mural & Mea Wolf in Action!

About Mae Wolf & Metta Yoga's Blue Wall Transformation:

Mae Wolf is a muralist, oil painter, and multidisciplinary creative based out of San Rafael. Upon moving here to pursue her masters in art therapy at Dominican, she was immediately drawn to Metta’s blue wall as a canvas for a large scale work of art.

Through out this week she has been tackling the 100 foot wall and bringing her creative vision to life. This art piece is a representation of movement, transformation, and creative empowerment. It features red tail hawks, which are native to the region. The lotus flowers and butterflies represent transformation. This mural is the culmination of the livelihood, joy, and warmth that art and creativity bring into her world.

Mae has been passionately pursing art for 10+ years. Her vibrant murals seek to honor the beauty of nature and local ecology. Her mission in life is to harness the power of art to empower communities, inspire hearts and minds, and spark meaningful conversations, and connections.

You can see Mae’s original design created to fit the grant budget, along with the expanded design she later developed to go above and beyond and make the piece even stronger. for our Downtown!

We can't wait to see the final piece!  Thank you Mae!!

About the project:

Last year, the Business Improvement District (BID) and the Downtown San Rafael Arts District (DSRAD) launched a pilot Art Beautification Matching Grant specifically for Downtown businesses. Three businesses signed up, and the program went through a lengthy, detailed process as the BID and City worked through legal and liability requirements.

After many months of coordination with the amazing Economic Development City staff, the project was able to move forward! We especially appreciate Metta Yoga for staying engaged throughout the process and helping bring this first project to life, while helping create a path for future art and beautification projects in Downtown San Rafael.

Supporting Metta Yoga:

The Downtown San Rafael Arts District and the BID awarded $4,000 in the matching grant to help bring this project to life. To complete the mural, Metta Yoga worked to raise an additional $8,000 through community support! If you’d like to help, you can view and contribute to their GoFundMe here.
