Homelessness Solutions Working Group
The City of San Rafael is establishing a working group that will meet three times over the next six months to explore ongoing challenges and potential solutions regarding homelessness in the City.
We have heard from the community that they want to help and want to better understand the complexities surrounding solving homelessness.
The work of this group will serve as a foundation for the City’s Homelessness Solutions Action Plan, which will be developed in 2025.
In addition, working group members will be trusted messengers who will communicate with their colleagues and neighbors about what they’ve learned and what the City and the County are doing together to respond to homelessness in San Rafael. Example topics for this group include the legal challenges, enforcement activities, shelter demand, services, programs, funding and other obstacles.
The working group will meet in person for the first session in November, with follow-up meetings held virtually via Zoom in January and March. All meetings will take place from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The first meeting's presentation will be publicly accessible via Zoom, and subsequent virtual meetings will also be open for public participation.
Working group participants include business and property owners, individuals with lived experience, volunteers and staff from local community-based organizations, and other San Rafael residents.
