Downtown San Rafael Adopt-A-Planter Pilot Program
Beautifying Downtown One Corner at a Time!
The Downtown San Rafael Business Improvement District (BID) is excited to launch a new Adopt-A-Planter program to help improve our downtown intersections.
For years, our corner planters have provided much-needed greenery, but many have overgrown trees or limited water sources that make beautification a challenge. So, we're starting small, with one pilot planter, to create a model for what’s possible.
Phase One: The Pilot
The BID Board's beautification committee will invest $2,500–$3,000 to:
-
Refresh soil and repair irrigation
-
Re-plant with local, drought-tolerant plants and seasonal color
-
Add new trees where feasible
This first beautified planter will serve as a prototype for future adoptions throughout Downtown.
Future Phases
Once the pilot is complete, we’ll invite businesses, property owners, and community partners to adopt additional planters for a one-year term.
Adopters will receive:
-
Recognition in BID promotions
-
The satisfaction of making Downtown greener and more inviting
-
Partnership with the BID and City to keep our streets beautiful
