REBOUND BOOKSTORE HOSTS ACTIVIST PHOTO EXHIBIT -“TAKE IT TO THE STREETS!”

Juxtaposed with the permanent display of original 1960’s rock posters at the Rebound Bookstore 1611 4th Street will be a powerful collection of political street images shot by two exciting photographers.

Displayed will be historic photos from the 1960s’ by internationally published activist/ photographer William Haigwood and documentary images of current political activism in Marin County by emerging photojournalist Max Clausen.

Haigwood’s work is a record of Berkeley Free Speech Movement, the Peoples Park struggle, the Anti-War movement, the Black Panthers and other events.

Clausen’s stunning images capture pinnacle moments in local homeless action, civil rights demos, climate action, and support for the cease-fire in Palestine.

“Why are these powerful documents shown with the rock posters?” you may ask.

Says Joel Eis, co-owner of the Rebound Bookstore, “the idea of the show is to juxtapose images of cultural freedom from the 1960s with images of the struggle that is necessary to secure those freedoms, both yesterday and today."

The show opens on Art Walk night in San Rafael, May 10th, with a reception 5:30-7:30 PM and continues during business hours 11:00- 5:00 Mon-Sat in the store through June.

Attendance at the receptions is free.

Political activist groups will be allowed to have informational tables as part of the opening reception. 6:00-8:00 PM

Prints of the images on display will be available after the show closes.
