2022 Slurry Seal Project In Downtown San Rafael

The Department of Public Works is planning a slurry seal project from Sunday, October 9th to Sunday, October 16th.  Affected roads will be closed between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Parking will not be possible on the treatment day, but one-way traffic will be accommodated on most roads. These phases will focus on the Canal District, Bret Harte Neighborhood, and Downtown (4th, Octavia, and C St.). Sunday work will occur in the Canal Commercial District to ensure minimal disruption to businesses.

Fourth Street will be worked on from October 10th through the 11th and C Street from October 10th through the 13th See map HERE.

A slurry seal is an application of a mixture of water, asphalt emulsion, aggregate (very small crushed rock), and additives to an existing asphalt pavement surface. This year's pavement preservation project will include the removal of existing striping, crack sealing, slurry sealing, and the replacement of traffic striping and new crosswalks.
