Keeping Downtown Clean: Thanks to Tom Harrison with BID Support
When you stroll through downtown San Rafael, you may notice fewer eyesores like graffiti and stickers compared to most other cities. That’s thanks to the tireless work of Tom Harrison. Since 2015, Tom has volunteered countless hours to help the City with litter abatement, and in 2022 he added a new “hobby”: removing graffiti and stickers from public surfaces. To date, he’s dedicated thousands of hours to cleaning trash cans, streetlights, fire hydrants, parking meters, and traffic control boxes.
In 2024, the San Rafael BID proudly invested $2,000 of event fundraising dollars to support Tom’s efforts by covering the cost of his supplies. While this contribution doesn’t compensate him for his time, it ensures he has the tools needed to keep our streets welcoming.
Tom’s selfless contributions, combined with the BID’s financial support, directly enhance the appearance and economic vitality of the 4th Street corridor. Next time you see Tom beautifying public spaces, be sure to thank him for his ongoing service to our community!
