1001 4th Street Art Transformation

"Artist’s Design Concept"

Art Works Downtown has commissioned an artist to install a 450 square foot original visual art piece in the windows of 1001 4th Street. The Sausalito-based artist, Raylene Gorum,  works primarily with intricately cut vinyl, acrylic, and wood to create installations and flat work that blur spatial boundaries.  In collaboration, the owner of the property agreed to paint the building’s exterior and improve the existing lighting. The transformation resulting from the paint job is already enormous, and we can’t wait for the art unveiling this Fall.  The project is funded through the Downtown San Rafael Arts District and a grant from the California Arts Council.
